OK, so I got a SAA clone for a great price. Has 5 1/2" barrel. I happen to like bbl flush with ejector rod. I have a lathe to do the cutting, will rent tool to face barrel properly.

I've looked around some on removing barrel. Barrel blocks, chunk of wood to fit cylinder opening, etc.

Any words of wisdom from those that been there, done that ?

Thanks in advance !!!

if you have a late, you should be able to crown the barrel just fine. As to the removal........heavy rubber, wood blocks rubber mallet, rawhide mallets, any and every thing soft, and move slowly watching for any flex of the frame. Sometimes the Italians are not as strong or as hard as we might be led to think. Somewhere I saw a barrel clamp for a vice that really attracted my attention (Brownells/Midway??)

Thanks Doc.

Yea, I think the barrel blocks / clamp were from Brownells. I'm hoping a piece of hard wood, drilled, split and well rosined up will work for a block. Don't want to spend the bucks. lol
