My wife has been at her Mother's in Louisville since the 26th of April. She returns on the 4th of June; 5 days before our 18th Anniversary. Obviously, I can't be left alone- I tend to give in to temptation. I bought a pre-safety 307 WIN a few weeks ago and then a pre-safety 356 WIN a last weekend; the only logical thing to do was buy a pre-safety 375 WIN to close out the Winchester 94 XTR Big Bore set. Now, do I just say "Don't worry about getting me anything for our anniversary", or do I stash these deep in the safe and play it cool? Hmm... decisions, decisions. Regards, Ron

If she insists on getting you something it looks like you could use some sights. ;-)
Nice trio!

Stash them, at least till you come up with her something nice. My wife just got back from a month down south, she hasn't ask, so I haven't told. lol

C'mon, you live in Louisiana, you KNOW she is gonna find out!!
So get her something nice and tell her you want a 375449 bullet mould :)

Don't worry they look the same, only take one out of the safe.

Take the advice of a hopeless bachelor: keep an old rifle case in the trunk of your car/behind the seat of your truck. When you come in with a new gun, all she sees is the same old case. If you score a NIB specimen you're on your own, lol.
But seriously, she needs something nice for putting up with you all these years. Damn sure won't hurt when you show her your new toys.

Doesn't matter what you tell her or when you tell her.

Eventually . . . . .

I suppose she already knows and is just waiting to see if I come clean... I've already found all the brass and the flip up sight I'm missing. It should all get here this weekend and Monday... I have moulds for the 375 and 356- dual purpose for my Dan Wesson Supermags. I just need to find a good 35 cal mould now.

She might not know for a 100% certain, but if she is like mine , she knew you were gonna. lol

Works from my house too, but you are standing a little closer than I would want to if I were in your shoes.

Of course she already knows about the 7x30 Waters from last month soo... I guess I'll just admit to her I'm a weak man when it comes to fine things, like her and classic 94s... That should work.

Maybe time to find a nice 9422 for her to call her own. lol

That is a nice trio. My wife just recently bought her own 94 Big Bore in 307. I got moulds to try, plus some highly recomended boolits that came with the deal. I did not have dies for this so had to order, but they and some other goodies should arrive this week. I may get to shoot it someday. JW

Soo- what boolits are you going to try? I was thinking Lyman 311440 for the 307 and RCBS 32-170 FN for the 32 WIN SPC. I haven't decided on the 356 or 375, although I have some heavy-for-pistol moulds I use for my Dan Wesson Supermags...

simple explanation of shakey economy and distrustful white house for investments the normal way makes these look better than money in the bank, and women generally outlive men so she will no doubt get the benefit of this investment! Am I clever or what?!

I am jealous as I only have one pre-safety Big Bore, in .375

That's all I have but when the right rifle comes along I may change that. I see a 375 now and then but the others I very seldom if ever see.

That's exactly what happened- the right rifles just happened to come along; 32 SPC pre 64, 7x30 Waters, 307, 356, and 375 all pre-safety- happened along within 5 weeks...

+1, seems like there are plenty of 375's to be had but I rarely see any of the others. I can't remember the last time I saw a 307, even at an outrageous price. I am guessing they made more 375's than the others.

rwsem, I have been using RCBS 200 FNGC in the 356 with very good results. Have not had time to mess with the 307 much yet. Did load 10 rounds with RCBS 150 FNGC and killed cans with those. Also loaded up 10 rounds of NOE version of Lyman 311041 PB over some 2400 but have not fired them yet. JW

Thanks JW. I've ordered the Lyman 311440 for the 307 and RCBS 32-170-FN for the 32 SPC from Western Bullet Co., to try before I get a mould. I have a 375 mould from Veral that I use for my Dan Wesson Supermag, so I'll try that first for the 375. I also have an RCBS 7-140-SIL that should work for the Waters. I'll pick up some RCBS 35-200-FN soon, with any luck, and that should close me out. Regards, Ron

Last time I ran across a BB in 307 I wasn't sure about brass availability so I passed on it. Saw a .356 awhile back but it had been badly Bubba'd. Probably should have bought it anyway. Local Cabelas has one in 375 now. It's some type of commemorative, NIB. I truly don't need any more Winchesters but the darned things keep following me home.

Gunbroker seems to have a steady supply of 375's but the other calibers are very rare to non existent there. Have been keeping my eyes peeled for a 356, Winchester or preferably Marlin for scope mounting ease, but they are uncommon to say the least.

rwsem: You will likely do well with those boolits from Jon,,I got started with the 311440s from him,and that led to my acquiring my own mould(s)... Onceabull

375449 is pretty awesome for the 375 Winchester, with mine I lube the bottom two and crimp into the 2nd from the top groove.

The LBT mold I have throws boolits at 230 gr. it's a bit light for the 375, but I think it will do fine for now. I will have to bump up the hardness a bit as I tend to cast on the soft side for my revolvers. Regards, Ron

take her out to dinner, beg for mercy, tell her you are only a man, that you love only her, cry a little. Tell her you got sick while she was gone, and she was not there to nurse you back to health, and it could have been worse, you could have hired a Japanese masseuse to heal you, but no, out of love for her, you did the only thing you could do, buy guns, kind of like when she buys shoes.........or some **** like this

FWIW, the .356 BB94's were all top-mount scope prepped from the factory M94AE's (Angle Eject) - as easy to scope as a Marlin 336/1895.

I looked a LONG time, for a .356 w/o the canoe-paddle (monte carlo comb) buttstock - before I finally found a minty one @ $250.
