Regarding at least one of yesterday's Memorial Day threads:

Flags that have been flown over the Capitol Building are available through your congressional representative. I can't recall the cost but it is very reasonable. (Congressional e-mail directory: http://www.contactingthecongress.org/)

For Christmas presents, three-years-ago, we gave one each to our son and daughter, and they will be handed down to their children.

It's a daily or weekly thing, I've got one that I do need to recycle as it's getting faded and worn. Just write your rep.

Contact your Boyscouts if you have one that needs destroyed. Sometimes they do a flag serm. to destroy old flags in an honerable way.

Well, OClama tramples his way thru the Constitution, but if he is ever posed trampling(or his Moose Moochelle!) on an American flag, it better be real, not photoshopped.
Otherwise, and that said, Thank you "462" for the reminder and pointer.

It's our flag, and sometimes it's all we got left......................... Lee

They have a crew that puts up flags and flies them for a few minutes then they put up the next one.

Any ideas on how they are made? Printed or embroidered?

Mary,

The flags are embroidered, and made of cotton (100%?). A quality flag you will be proud to display, or keep as a family heirloom (as our kids are doing).

When I worked for the US Capitol Police in the early 70s we would send someone up to the East front with the box of flags to be flown. Some days it was zilch, somedays it was 20 or 30.

I still have the flag that my American Legion post had flown over the US Capitol and sent to me in Viet Nam in 1966. Since that time, it has been flown in several other countries including Afganistan, Iraq and Kuwait.
