It's a Winchester 1873 in .357 and it's mine!
Sorry for the crappy photo but it's mine!

Japanese, my 1892 .44mag is also and was my favorite rifle. I think it just took 2nd place.

How long did it take to get it? - or did you wait at all? I'm still waiting on mine. T-Bird

Haven't been able to shoot it just yet. There has been quite a bit of family drama since I brought it home (not because of the gun purchase).

cool ... would like to hear bout the shooting. do you plan to use black powder? i hope you at least try the magic black as this rifle was built around it.

Well, next to the .44 mag it feels like pop gun going off. At 15 yards I aimed at the number 8 on a silhouette and hit it, with the two followup shots touching the first. That was shooting from a standing position using Buffalo Bore 180 gr hard cast. I'd sure like to figure out how to duplicate those loads

Thanks for the range report, hope that means things have settled down around the house. Good luck on finding a load but it shouldn't be too difficult once you find a good mould.

Just realized that I missed part of the question. No I don't really have plans to shoot black powder out of it. I don't really feel like tearing the rifle down after shooting it every time. With that said I'm having such a hard time finding pistol powder that I might have to take it into consideration.

steve ... shooting real blackpowder is a fun and exciting way to shoot a lever action. it is not as messy as you might suspect. i shoot 7 or 9 shots and pull a string thru the bore with a wet patch on the end. that takes all the gunk out thru the muzzle and none in the action. my '92' had regular shootings with BP and my process is as such;

shoot several rounds and pull the string thru with the wet patch ... continue shooting.
after im done shoot her i "pull" two or three wet patch's thru the bore and this almost makes it completely clean.
then i follow up at home with a rod and ballistol/water mix to finish the cleaning process.
follow this with clean dry patchs till they come out clean.
i then spray the whole thing ... barrel, action and complete outside with either "outers or rem" spray oin till the thing drips.
let the oil seep into all the nooks and crannys for 5 to 10 minutes and as im fond of handling it i wipe with a clean cloth.

i wondered how really clean my rifle was after several trips out with the blackpowder so ... i pulled it down completely to inspect ... NOTHING but clean oily parts.

you can use the blackpowder with an easy mind ... it has worked so well for how long?

What is the barrel length? Round or octagon?

more pictures would be good.

20 inch round. Would have loved one in octagon.
