While researching for CBs that like the 375 Winchester, I came across an article in the Handloader #86, July-August 1986.

Loading for a Single-Shot 375 Winchester by Tom Osborne, pages 42-46

Note that under medium cast bullet loads
RCBS 37-250-FN Unique 9.5gr 1,143 fps Accurate, Mild

This tracks pretty close to what I saw with 9.0gr Unique and a 375449 265gr.

That RCBS boolit looks quite similar to the 375449, my 375 is a Big Bore 94 and likes the 375449 quite well.

With CB's, it's all how the bullets front band lines up with the chamber parallel throat / freebore. With case at 2.020", chamber 2.080" and tapered chamber transition 0.042", need a nominal front band of 0.102"+ to ensured that the front band is into the parallel throat when chambering. Most CB's have a front band in the 0.080" range which results in the CB lying offset in the chamber transition and having to 'bounce up' into throat on firing...not conductive to accuracy!

But if use thick brass, and partial size the case (use older .38-55 sizer die, not "cowboy" sizer die), can obtain good bullet / chamber / throat line up despite front band being too short for throat... Once fired cases sized per above are more accurate than factory "tight" measures.

The WW 250SP is accurate...would appear the chamber / throat was designed around it, with case cut short so can work in a lever gun. The Speer 235gr has longer ogive and can be seated out for good chamber fit in #3. The NorthFork 250gr should also be very accurate in #3

The only bullet that I have used in my 375 w/Unique is the Badman 230gr. Sized properly, it is quite accurate and very mild recoil. Sustained fire w/o leading is very good.
