Today myself & Callshot did more water jug testing, we knew we would get good penetration, what we were really after was the reaction on the 4th water jug using a 275 gr. HP in a Ruger Bisley. Last week we did the same test using my 5 shot 480 with HP's.
My load today with the 45 was 18.5 grs of 2400 but instead of my normal 260 gr. solid I would be using a 275 gr. HP. First I put both on paper & was a bit surprised when the 275 gr. slug shot a bit better than my long time friend, the 260 Keith. My bullets today were also powder coated. I don't think the paint had anything to do with the better accuracy, I do believe in this short test that my gun liked the heavier bullet a tiny bit better.
While I did get complete penetration through the 4th jug it was no where near the violent reaction of the 385 gr. HP from my 480 Harton custom.
