I heard a that a couple of years ago, in the handloaders digest annual issue, there was a huge writeup on IMR 8208 xbr..... I would love to read that issue, but dont know which issue I am looking for????

Any help finding this issue, would be appreciated, or if somebody has the mag and could scan or copy for my consumption, that would be awesome....

Hi there AlaskanGuy;
You've got me stumped. Would you please clarify for me.
I have a random collection of Handloader's Digest's. My latest is the 17th Ed dated 1997. Is this the book you are describing?
I don't know of an annual issue. The first ed. was in 1962. this tells me that the book is/was not an annual publication. Is there another publication that I'm not aware of?

BTW, I looked in the 17th Ed for your powder. No luck. I'll continue to look as I get the opportunity.

Buddy, I've got issues 1 through 17 (#18 is the only one I don't have). I didn't see it in any of the ones I have. If it's handloaders digest that printed it, it's gotta be in #18 (the last one they put out.

I think you may be looking for the Hodgdon Annual Manual.

Hodgdon's 2010 annual manual has the article I think you refer to. There is a picture of an AR-type rifle as well as a one pound container of the XBR 8208 powder and other components on the cover. The 8208 powder as I recall is very similar in burn rate to H322 and is supposed to be a modern replacement to the legendary "Thunderbird" powder of benchrest and 6ppc fame. I have used a small amount of the powder in .222 Remington, but not enough to render a fair judgement. A friend has used it in .223 and .308 and claims good results. I do have that the issue, but I'm technologically challenged and don't know how to get a copy of the article to you. I'll ask my better half if she can assist and maybe we can accommodate you.

if you guys can take decent photos of the pages from your smartphones or phones and then email them to me I can make a PDF(potable document format) out of this so everyone could download and read them

As an aside. If you have a smartphone download the TurboScan app. You do have to pay for it. It creates PDFs directly using the phone's camera. When I say they are high quality it would be an understatement. I've used it to back up and allow quick access to loads and instruction manuals.

Or you can scan it and e-mail the scan to one of the guys who puts stuff on CastPics. As long as Hodgson OK's it, I assume they own the rights.
