On this day 26 May 1865 the NRA(GB) held the first of two 2000 yard muzzle loading rifle competitions at Gravesend. Col. Halford won the first with a Metford rifle.

What a coincidence...I was at the Gravesend Range 2 months ago
My lord David, 2000 yards.Never in my wildest dream did I know they shot at that distance.

Thanks for the interest. The NRA(GB) only held these comps for two years. I like tracking this stuff done and trying to document it... So much interesting things going on during this period.
