Hi guys I usually just use alloy ingots of a known mixture:

Hard Ball 2:6:92 BHN 16

I have been given some lead and 60:40 solder, waste not want not!

These are my rudimentary calculations:

TIN ANTIMONY LEAD
Hard Ball 8 parts 2% (16) 6% (48) 92% (736)
Lead 7 parts 100% (700)
Solder 1/2 parts 60% (30) 40% (20)
46/15.5 48/15.5 1456/15.5
3% 3% 94%

If my rule of thumb is correct I should have an alloy just a bit harder than electrotype maybe 12.5 BHN.

Am I on the right track?

Just noticed the sticky at the top! According to the spreadsheet its about 12.2 BHN!
