Any one know the heaviest cast weight available for 30 caliber? Hopefully around .311 or .312

Thanks to all,

Vic

I don't know what the heaviest mold made is for 30 cal. The heaviest I have is 311284, weighs 220 - 222 gr out of 1/4 PB 3/4 WW lubed and checked. Shoots good out of my Krag, 30-06 and a Savage 24 30-30 I had.

CBE has a .313/230grains, don't know what alloy that was measured with.

I have seen a 250 gr 30 cal mold referenced from many years ago. I think it was in Mattern or Naramores book. I have no idea how fast a twist you'd need. There used to be 250 gr jacketed offered too. I believe 220 is about as heavy as it gets these days.

I haven't seen an molds over the 220 grain level, but I have seen some cast boolits that were maybe 250 gr size in 30-40 Krag.

The heaviest I have seen is lyman/ideal 31125. At 250 grains, its about as long a bullet as they could fit in a set of lyman blocks. Unfortunately its discontinued . The heaviest available 30 (as the other guys have mentioned ) is about 220 grains. john
