A few months ago, I posted a description of a front rest that I made out of a scissor jack.

My friend Bryan and I shoot a good bit with each other now. He liked my front rest enough that today I made him one as a gift.

Here is a link to the jack that I used :

There won't be a hold put on it.

You're very welcome to get started ASAP
and make one identical to it .

Let us see yours when it is completed.

If you ever use one, you'll wonder why you have waited so long to do it.

In my opinion it is the ultimate front rest.

I also have a friend that has a $175 front rest, he likes mine much better than his more expensive one. Says mine is more stable and MUCH easier to adjust.

Ben, I 'borrowed' your idea a short while back. The scissors jack, from Harbor Freight, is different from the one you used in that the top plate, which you removed, is wider, as is the base plate. I put the Caldwell small bag on also but substituted walnut media, for use in the tumbler, instead of the shot. Found that the jack moved around a bit on the wood benches at the range so I'm going to try a scrap of the adhesive backed ice guard material on the bottom of it. It has a coarse grit surface to it. That may help keep it in place better. I'll find out next week.

The ice guard material made this stand solid!

I bought four of those screw jacks at an estate auction for $2 recently. I now know what to do with a couple of them . The original owner used them in his wood shop.

That should work Brian.
