Seeing the thread for the Smith 14 brought this back to my mind. I have a Smith 29-3 that performs flawlessly in single action, have never had an issue in single action, but about 5 percent of the time, the cylinder will not rotate in double action. I can occasionally make it fail to rotate using snap caps, but it seems to occur more frequently when actually shooting it. The pawl/hand fails to go forward and rotate the cylinder, if my observations are correct. I had the gun over a year before I noticed the issue, hardly ever shoot double action. I bought the gun used. Detail disassembled and cleaned when I got it, everything inside appears to be in excellent condition.
