brought this home a couple weeks ago
finally time for a photo shoot
S&W 410 .40s&w with factory plastic hardcase and all the paperwork and im sure less than 200 rounds thru it
steel slide and alloy frame so it fairly light
i found a set of the optional factory sights from HI-VIZ
shoots just like a 3rd gen Smith should, all of them are so under rated
been casting the Lee TL401-175SWC out of 50/50 COWW/SOWW and 45/45/10 lube
backed off the charge to keep from stripping the bullet in the rifling (what a mess to clean up that was)
at 3.0gr of RedDot under that boolit it still leads a bit, maybe I'll get it worked out but she sure is a fun shooter!

Oh I like!
I have a SS 5906 that I LOVE. I traded into it and wouldn't part with it for nothing. Waiting on my holster from Springfeild and it'll be my "Sunday go meetin' " carry gun for fancy occasions.
I'd really like a 3913 too someday.

they don't make em like that anymore.

I have to brag on this. I got a great deal on it and it was pretty much NIB when I got it. Not any more. I take VERY good care of it, but I shoot the snot out of it. Light cast loads, and lots of them.

I've got a second gen 669. My dad bought it and carried it as a backup duty gun. First handgun I really shot a lot. One of my favorite carry pieces

Buds gun shop has a bunch of tradeins or surplus for sale right now for around $300

The S&W 3rd Gen autos are amazing firearms. As a matter of fact I am headed over to Bud's right now.

I do love Smith autos and revolvers alike. All the pics in this thread are very nice. Sorry I don't have pics of any of my Smiths. My carry gun is a 3913LS. If I leave home without it, I feel naked. The Smiths I own are all good shooters. I like the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen guns over the new generation of plastic guns. I'm not saying the new generation is not good shooters, I would rather use any one of the older guns.

Takes a real man to admit to carrying a Lady Smith everyday. Lol!!!

I read somewhere that S&W still makes, or did until recently, occasional runs of these for a few LE customers who insist on them.

I buy spare parts for these all the time when they are available. Prices are reasonable and it allows me to keep the warhorses going. I do miss my 4013TSW at times...

I own a 5906 in stainless, recently installed new night sights. It shoots good so, I keep it. Still going strong.

I was picking up a rem pump at my LGS a couple years back and he hands me a boxed 4506. I ask how much . Long story short, $428 with tax. First owner traded on a 1911 smith said the 4506 was to big and never shot it. I like Smith autos 6906 / 3913 / 4506 / 4006 / Walter PPKS. WW

Very nice. I had a 4006 before the 5906. Let it go to get the 5906 because I shoot 9mm and have several. It was a gentle beast though.
Great score. The box and papers just add that much more value and collectibility.

If any smith could dethrone the mighty 45, it it could only be the 10mm. That thing is beast!

I straight up love the third generation Smith auto pistols.

I have a value model 411 (410 when it first came out with a 11 round magazine) got it a while back during the Clinton era as a police officer trade in/buy back. I've always liked the value line in 40.

From the 4506 to the 5906 to the 1006, all the third generation Smiths were rock solid and great guns. Saw them abused and working hard day in and day out as rental guns. Like the energizer bunny they just keep on going.

I liked them so much I purchased what I consider one of the most reliable 45 auto pistols ever, a 4506. One that I will never get rid of.

I had an older gen two 645 for a while, and like an idiot I went and sold it. I don't plan on making the same mistake with the 4506 however.

Someday there may even be a 10mm Smith auto pistol in my future assuming the stars all line up, and I am in the right place at the right time.

I would be thrilled if they started making a 4th gen or even upgraded 3rd gens available in the custom shop.

This...well, as long as they don't mess it up!!! I wonder what a new one would cost?

Well I'll be the bad guy. I like S&W revolvers but there are only a few S&W semi-auto pistols I care for:
The Model 41 and at half the cost, a good Ruger MKII will hang with it.
The Model 52, just because a pistol that shoots 38 Spl Wadcutters is different
And the models 645/4506. I'm not sure why but the 645 was not only tough but every one I've seen was extremely accurate.

As for the other S&W pistols, you don't need to worry about me reducing the supply.

I like the 39-2 very much. No other semi-auto feels quite so good in my hand. I'm on my 3rd one.
