I was helping my aunt last summer clean out her shed. There were a couple of 5 gallon buckets of this:

I haven't tried to melt any of it down yet. It certainly seems malleable enough and tears or rips easily with bare hands.

Thanks in advance.

Before you melt it all down, save a small piece aprox 10"x10". It makes a great funnel that will fit anywhere. Use it when draining a trannsmission or transfer case and the crossmember is in the way, save a lot of clean up time.

Merlin101 that is a great tip! I saw some of this at the scrap yard and was thinking on it for casting, now I'm going to get some for a funnel for sure.

And that stuff looks just like the scrap yard sheet lead.

Small peices are also useful to pad vice jaws, lead will grip without scratching.

I had a bunch of sheet lead that my home's previous owner had removed from the shower walls. I gave some to a friend that needed sheet lead to make some special radiator gaskets for his John Deere tractors. His hobby was rebuilding and restoring JD's

Other than the extra oxides from all the surface/lb, It looks like a great find. Just needs an extra fluxing to reclaim the oxides.
