I'll have to stare at it a bit. Not crazy for it right off the bat.........

It is as insipid as their standard model.

Not a fan. I was disappointed. I like the idea of having the 50th anniversary model. If it wasn't fugly

Too bad about that but-ugly nylon stock. You would think that for a special 50th edition, they would choose a nice laminate, or who knows, even REAL HARDWOOD. The laminate stocks have certainly proven popular enough in the aftermarket. If you just want an economy plinker, why buy the Anniversary Edition at all?

I like it, just not as a 50th anniversary gun. An anniversary gun should be pretty.

That looks like a great gun for new shooters, especially in an Appleseed type of environment. It also looks like a nice little tacti-cool plinker. I'd prefer if the sight was raised up just a bit so that it would do a lower 1/3 co-witness with a red dot like on an AR.

I'd like to see something similar with a grey laminate stock so it's like a little brother to the Gunsite Scout.

It is interesting but in an obsolete caliber.:kidding:

Many people have expressed their disappointment in the way the 50th anniversary 10/22 was done. Most felt a return of the classic look of one of the earliest designs (such as the finger groove stock, or the mannlicher) would have been a much classier design.

Yep, for some an instant wall hanger. Can't say I like the looks of it. The stainless barrel with the black "tacticool" flash suppressor is awful. JMO

That little flash hider is threaded, Same threads as most cans/supressors come in.

Yea, it's ugly. I do like the idea of a threaded mussel ( mite come in handy) but the stock is just plain butt ugly as is a lot of Ruger's synthetic stocks and I have nothing against synthetic stocks... they just shouldn't look like some kind of sports padding. Other than the fact that it's a great idea to come out with something you can't get ammo for.... LOL!

Shortage ? Where ?

I got the plain stainless/black stock version on sale in February, without knowing it had the 50th logo. (long story). It's the 'twin' to the takedown I got a year ago.

Knowing seasoned citizens who can't work the slide on many autos anymore, I coming to the conclusion that a 10/22 might just be the answer, maybe with a modification or two.

Of course, the ammo is hard to come by, but the hoarders left some for me at the WalMart a couple of weeks ago!!!!

The threaded muzzle is fine. I don't mind the suppressor but why can't it be stainless as well?

The 40th anniversary 10/22 was classy. Nice wood stock with emblem in the stock. This is just ugly. Who ever designed this one should be fired!

It was designed by a guy from Michigan. They had a contest to submit design suggestions and he won.

I personally think the flash hider looks hideous on that gun but it's main purpose is it's a cheap solution to keep the threads from getting damaged for those who want to add a can. An ugly but practical solution.

Should have some nice wood and gone with a more classic look. I think it would be considered illegal in NJ with the flash hider and threaded barrel. I hate this state.

Could Ruger be that close to broke that it is the best they can afford to do for a 50th anniversary gun?

Meh not my thing, I do not like stainless barrels to begin with. But that mix takes ugly to a whole new level.

Ruger sure makes some cool looking 10/22's!

The only problem for me is that I havn't used up or worn out my 1968 vintage 10/22 yet. Its 46 yrs old and is still fun to shoot. I have 5 magazines for it , so it goes through a lot of ammo every time I take it out.

Maybe instead of a new rifle, I will get an after market extended mag release and bolt handle for the old one, That might be fun and keep me satisfied with the 1968 gun a little longer. Jay

It's a shame they didn't offer the 50th Anniversary model as a dressed up Sporter with the walnut stock and without the barrel band. It looks more like a bigger rifle but has the feel of other 10/22s. http://www.ruger.com/products/1022Sporter/models.html

Oh, I like the 10/22 take down I got today that has the 50th anniversary printed on the receiver, 1964-2014. I'll settle for this one.

Pretty sure they are not trying to market these things to guys like you and I.

it seems like the rage these days is plastic and stainless, and even rails and things screwed on the barrel. I don't care for it , but I'm sure they are constantly studying the market, and it is what it is.

Not to my taste. You couldn't give me one if I had to keep it. A couple of my sons would think it's cool.
