Lee .319 round ball run through a .314 sizer and .17 or .30 Lee scoop of trail boss (that's 1gr & 1.5gr) , pellet gun quiet and I think you could fill your freezer with squirrel roasts & steaks !!. they were shot out of my 22" barrelled rolling block.

obviously this was not a "tacticool enough thread"

I just missed out on a 1873 in 32-20 or I'd be trying it.

Sounds like what I do with my No4MK1 Enfield, except I use a 90gr Lee SWC sized .314" over 2.5grs RD or Unique. Pretty much a garden varmint load, but accurate enough for squirrels too. I have not tried doing the math to figure out how far it may be dangerous to, but the accuracy falls off at 60yds for me, even thought the boolit still has plenty of power left so I don't use it unless I have a reliable backstop behind the target.

I don't have a 32-20 . . . yet! It sure is on my "want list" as that particular cartridge and the history of it intrigues me. Sounds like you have a pretty nice load down that allows you to keep the critters at bay!

No, rather liked it myself. Did you do any accuracy testing on paper? Did you TL your boolits? I have a 32-20 project ongoing and like to hear ideas for that cartridge.
Looking forward to your squirrel tenderloin recipes over in the cooking section. ;-)

32-20's are pretty lenient as far as loads go. I have a burner load for a lbt using h110, and a .22 sounding load using 3118's and unique. Truely a great little caliber and rifle (browning 53)

so far I have only shot a few off hand at paper at around 20-25 yards and I just thumbed the round ball in the case without lube. I will try the 115 gr boolit with 1.5 to 2 grains next.

Any idea of the velocity of said loads?
