Is anyone here using NOE's .454 350gr boolit?

I'm thinking about using them in my Ruger Redhawk in .45 Colt. I've sized a similar NOE .460" 360gr down to .454" with good results in this gun. I can probably slay any beastie east of the Mississippi with a .45 270 SAA at 1,200fps but this mold speaks to me. :)

Groo here
I would NOT use such a heavy bullet in a 45 colt , unless shot in a large frame gun.
Also I would use the heavest load I could and not expect accuracy except at close range.
Such a bullet is on the edge even in a 454.
I have an SSK 454/340gr mold for the 454 and unless I am after T-rex ,trucks or elephant just don't need the weight or kick of such a boolet.
Stick with the 270gr for most all hunting and shooting., 300 for Buff or Big Bear.
The big stuff is for Africa , or just an exersize.

I disagree with Groo. I shoot a 340 for the largest America has to offer. Now I can hit what I aim at with it...if you cant then Groo's sugestion is dead on. If you are looking at defense, pigs, deer, black bear I'd stick with RCBS 270SAA or LEE 300g.

45LC isnt topping out with 300g loads, but about hot 350g its topped out. Some of the 365 1200fps data I've seen proves that but the 340g is enough to make me not want to go heavier. Not a fun round to shoot but if you need it you need it.

I used Linebaugh's data for the 360gr load for a bit over 1,000fps and accuracy was still good. Some recoil but the Redhawk is a BiG hunk of stainless steel so it wasn't as bad as top end loads from my .44 Mag. They sure hit hard too.

Just cast up a batch of the 270SAA boolits and don't have a trip to Jurassic Park planned. I may mull this for a while.

Thanks gents.

To the OP, this bullet also "speaks" to me as well. I was envisioning launching it out of a 454 that I don't even own yet. This web site is bad for my check book.

I wish they'd make something in between that bullet and their 265 WFN.

A ~300-grain LFN, maybe a .425" nose (ruger only, but not flush with the cylinder), with a .325 or .33 meplat. I've about decided that anything over 300 grains is a waste, for me.

Actually, NOE also makes a mold for a 325gr boolit with a .300" meplat too:

I'm just stuck on the bigger of the two. :)

I hadn't seen that one. Trim 0.10" off that rear band and it would be close to what I'm wanting.
