Hi Folks,
Just wondering if anyone is shooting the Lee C324-175-1R in their Turk Mausers.
If so how does it shoot?
Thanks

I have the mold but have not tried it in my M38 K. Kale yet.

I use it in my 88/05 Commission Rifle as well as my 1938 K.Kale. It works just fine in both.

Oh and both are Turks ;)

My 1940 Turk has .328 throat so this Lee doesn't work but cut-down Lee 8mm KAR does very well.

Even with my relatively soft lead it makes good .329 200Gr+ PB boolit. It shoots really good too :)

Donor8x56r,

How do you cut down your boolits? What technology are you using? Can you send a photo? Please advise.

I Have a JP Sauer 98K Mauser that I had to firelap the heck out of Now it wants a .332" so I go the other way with a beagled Lee329-205-1R

however that mould as it comes drops .330-329" seems like that would be less work for you then cutting Karabiners down....no?

I don't cut down boolits-I did machine the mold down about 1/8-3/16 of an inch.

It worked great.

JW,
.
My COWW Lee 8mm Karabiner's drop at ~.326". It doesn't sound like that's going to be wide enough for you.

My original Inquiry was about the Lee C324-175 mould ....thinking I may use that in my New Turk w/ .325" throat ( The JP Sauer 98K is a different issue all together but I have that under control now but everything is custom for that)

I don't own the C324-175-1R mold so I really cannot comment on how it chambers. I will say that the Karabiner was originally designed for warn throat military Mausers. That's why they're so long. They also drop at about 235 grains. To get the Karabiner cartridge to chamber properly, I have to set the boolit deep past the shoulder in the case. Cutting down the mold's at the base would help to solve this. Getting the blunt (wide melplat) boolit to fed from the magazine into chamber is challenging as well. COAL is a big factor in both cases.
.
If the C329-205 was a C324-205, I would buy one. I think that the 8mm boolit should weigh in at about 200 grains. As far as the Karabiner is concerned, I'll be experimenting with filler to keep the exposed sides of the boolit and lube from burning during that first instance of ignition. I'm looking forward to also testing that wide melplat on some hoofed critter at or under 100yds.
.
For $20-25, you can't go too wrong with the C324-175 Lee mold. There was a post not too long ago regarding dropped diameters of the Lee C324-175 boolits if memory serves.
.332" is a tough one. Are you paper patching for that rifle?

Buckshot says that the C324-175-1R shoots well in his Turks. (Post #9)

I hope this helps.
