I’d appreciate any recommendations that anyone here may have about a mould for a 9mm from Accurate Molds in the 135 to 147 grain weight. (FWIW, I’ll be casting using Lyman No. 2 alloy or a close equivalent). I’d especially like to hear from someone who’s got one and what load they’re using for it.

I did a search and found a similar thread but it was a bit old and most of the recommendations were for moulds from other sources than Accurate and I’m really only interested in the offerings from Accurate Molds (I already have the Lee 6-Cavity 356-125-2R).

Thanks in advance.

Just saw a post started on 5/1 asking for 9mm mould advice but, as I said above, I’m only interested in Accurate Molds.

In that weight range, I would start with the 35-140A and have Tom make it without the gas check shank. This is based somewhat off the experience that lead me to getting my 45-230F. The goal was maximum meplat without compromising feeding in 1911's. This design does that handsomely.

I'm undecided on weight for when I ultimately start casting 9mm, but it's between what I just described above and the 35-125B, both being similar in profile to the .45 I am extremely pleased with.

That sounds like a sensible approach.

Thanks for the input!

I have his 35-125D with a really shallow L.G. for HiTek coating. Works great, no feed problems. BB makes for easy loading.

I have the 35-125T and I love it. I use it for 9mm, .38, and .357mag. They drop at 130gr using ww alloy

kettle,

I have Tom's 9mm mold, a five banger in aluminum, model number 357-135A. I've shot many thousands of rounds through a bunch of different 9mm pistols with no problems. Can't go wrong with AccurateMolds. Good luck.

best wishes- oldandslow

Thanks oldandslow! Just what I was looking for.
And thanks to popper and .429 for your input.

Like you I am interested in a 9mm mold in the same weight range you are seeking. And as recommended above, the 35-140A appears to be the one I like best so far. However, I DO want a gas check on the boolit. Ranch Dog used to offer a 135 grain mold and it was his opinion that the 9mm would benefit from the gas check in that it is routinely loaded to a higher pressure than many revolver loads. I have been working lately with a Lyman mold 358480, a plain base boolit designed for 133 grains but mine usually go 138 grains. This boolit feeds well in every 9mm I have tried it in but pressure signs and larger than wanted groups lead me to suspect I could benefit from a gas check base. My next step will be to try the aluminum gas checks designed for plain base boolits. If they work, I am settled. If they don't I will be in the market for another mold, probably the 35-140A.
