I could probably put the pile of parts on the bench and guess them in, but . . .

Why do that when there is the internet

Looking for a link to a site with photos/text, NOT video.

Anyone have a good one?

A guitar pick for the front detent pin and spring can be one of the best tools to have for putting together a lower. Don't lose that pin!

I install the front pivot pin detent and spring inside a 1-gal zip-lock bag. It saves me crawling around on the floor with a flashlight. You can buy a tool to capture the spring and detent while you install the pivot pin for $10-20, or you could knock one out on your lathe in 5 minutes.

The best book I have on AR assembly that covers different types of uppers, and lowers is "the AR-15 Complete Assembly Guide" by Walt Kuleck with Clint McKee. ISBN#
1-888722-12-6. Get a copy now. During the Lanza scare of 2012 they were selling for over 100$ on ebay. Look around they should be about 10-15$

I put together my first dozen using this as a guide, but now it is all memorized and then some. There are some trick to the trade he does not cover like timing of the barrel nut by surfacing the front of the upper receiver face to get the perfect barrel tension. Or, the bag and pick trick mentioned above.

I also used the one on arfcom. Worked for both the lowers I built.

ARF.com too. Whenever I have a buddy come over thinking I'm going to build their AR, I pull that link up and I have them build their own AR.

Brownells has some excellent step by step videos. The link is at the top of the page.
