Found this in an old box from my gunshop days. No idea what's it for, I was thinking it was M1 but can't remember. Serial is 5509r.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/12/esena4ug.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/12/uqavy2uz.jpg

i can assure you, it did not come from an M1, carbine or garand. im leaning towards mauser of one form or another.
Looks like the butt plate on my 98' Mauser Turkish 8 X 57 mm.
I was thinking it was M1 but can't remember.
It is DEFINITELY not for an M- 1.

Lol. I had a bunch of old parts from an m1. I admit I know nothing about military gun which is obvious.

Turk Mauser. And possibly other 98 models. Looking at one on my bench right now.

Take your pick........the Mauser brothers weren't stupid. They used the same basic stock configuration as well as the same action for just about all their customers. Only various fittings/calibers/hand guards were changed for appearance or to please the customer, who wanted HIS Mausers to be "unique".
When you think about it, they had a perfect business. Everyone wanted their product and it could be changed at will without sacrificing production. Some of our industry could learn from that lesson.........
