My neighbors brother gave me 28# of this lead 92-6-2 and I know it will make awesome boolits. My question is should I leave as is or mix it with some pure to stretch it out? I'm casting for 45acp.

For .45 ACP it will work fine as-is, but there is no harm in cutting it with an equal part of wheelweights or backstop scrap if you want it to go farther.

cutting it in half will be fine too.
I used to buy 2/6/92 alloy for $1.00 per pound from my competition [back when I was a small time commercial caster] then added 2% more tin to it to make a 4/6/90 alloy.
I use that 4/6/90 alloy in several rifle applications.

the 1/3/96 alloy will work just fine in the 45 acp and might even be a little more hardness than is needed there.

What run said.

Dilute it to stretch the alloys.

You've got Magnum Alloy, AKA Hardball.

In my opinion, it is really too hard for your .45 ACP. I'd dilute it 50/50 with pure to get 1% Tin, 3% Antimony, 96% Lead. Diluted 50/50 it will work great for all your standard hangun loads (Not magnums).

in essence hardball alloy is 50 % lino and 50 % pure lead , it's way harder than ww's ( which many run straight with good results )
now if you was to dilute that hardball 50/50 with pure lead ( or something reasonably close ) you'll have a pretty fair approximation of clip on ww's ( just a wee bit sweeter on tin which isnt a bad thing )
you can also dilute that ww approximation in half again and it will be still entirely suitable for 45 acp or 38 special and the like , if you add a wee bit of magnum small shot ( 7 1/2 up to 9 in size ) as part of the pure it will water quench harder than lyman #2 alloy
in the end it just depends upon what kind of lead stash you have and what kind you can get your paws on ( myself i cut alot of coww's with 2 parts of soft to one part ww for various pistol calibers )

Thank you for all the info. I do have pure that I can cut it with which is what I'll will do because right now I'm casting with coww and it is working great

PS I also have a 5# slab of babbit witch is 77.3%-14.9%-5.8% and .6%As. what mix ratio with pure would it take to bring it close to coww

Something to be said for holding onto the hard alloys for casting something that requires alloy be harder than COWW due to velocity you want to push it. Especially if you already have the COWW's and plain lead required to meet your low velocity pistol needs.
