I'm having trouble finding load data using 2400 and TB. In my 250/255s I usually use 17 gr 2400 or 5-5.5 gr TB. Would these loads work well for the 423 sized to 452? I like the boolit design but I like these two powders for the 45 Colt, too.

Depending on what alloy you're casting with, a solid 452423 is probably going to run 250 grains max and 230 min. Transferring your charges for a 255er over to a slightly lighter bullet won't hurt anything. As to how well it'll shoot, those are the dice we all have to roll when changing components.

I have not found #2400 a satisfactory powder in .45 Colt with 250-260 grain bullets at standard pressurss. The charges recommended by Alliant leave too mu h unburnex powder, even with Magnum primers and jam up the gun. I can get higher velocity, better accuracy and a cleaner burn with Bullseye, 231, WST or Unique.

Thats interesting information. I've noticed unburnt powder and smoked cases with the TB but not so much with this charge of 2400 in my Ruger NV and Henry. I'm going to try annealing the case necks on a few to see how that works. I've had awesome accuracy in my Henry with both powders. Thanks for the info on powder choices.

What gun? How hot do you want to go? 2400 will work fine in relatively hot (Blackhawk) loads. Give Blue Dot a look. Also AA #7 and #9.

Ruger NV and a Henry BB. Thus far highly accurate out of the BB. Not so much with the NV but then afterasking some questions, it turns out my chambers were sizingmy boolits too small before they ever hit the barrel.
