Hi folks,
Like the title states:Has any one actually measured the capacity of a Lee 20LB bottom pour pot?
If I want to do a mix of 15 lbs one alloy and 5 of the other do I need to make a compromise?
I think I heard the "Old Ones" here state it is actually a 17lb pot!..... Anyone actually measure the capacity? & at how full?
Thanks

I know mine bought last year doesnt hold 20lbs.

I threw a 14lb bar with only a Lil bit in the bottom and I thought it was going to over flow for a second. It can to the top edge.

I have always heard 18 pounds max. I go around 16 pounds max in my 20 pound Magnum Melter.

I can get 18 pounds in mine, but it's tough to flux when it's that full.

Thanks for the answers That's just about what I figured. I weighed out my standard boolit alloy at 12 lbs and melted that and wanted to add 5# of lino to cast some rifle boolits and stopped at 4 pounds because it got scary full. I do have to admit that there was some alloy in the bottom of the pot to start ( just don't know how much)

I'm guessing that it's real close to 20 lbs when filled with pure Lead. Since our alloy's are lighter per CC than pure, the overal capacity of the pot will be less.

when I mix up a pot of my 94-3-3, my recipe is for 20lbs and I usually end up with about 16lbs in the pot and 4 lbs in freshly poured ingots to lay in wait, to be added as the level decreases.

I think a 20 pound pot means it will hold 20 pounds of pure lead, not alloy,
IF you fill it completely to the top where it is just running over.

I've never filled mine to the top.

16#s is all I care to put in the pot w/ 96/2/2 or 96/3/1. Any more and you can't flux. If it does truly hold 20#s it's going to come all the way to the top. It could stand to be a little bigger.
