I ended up with some good results my first time rifle boolit shooting with a lee 180gr boolit. So I loaded up more to try again and see if the result were consistent. Load was 24gr of 5744 lubed both grooves with carnauba red and an aluminum GC. Shots were made from 100 yds. Alloy wasn't anything too scientific. It was WW with 1-2% copper babbit sized to .311. Here are the pictures

15 shots on the left. The 10 shots on the right were same boolit and powder charge, but had the bottom lube groove lubed with ben's red.

I was happy for my second time out shooting lead. My prior session I tested 5744 and RL7. RL7 seemed to lead and I couldn't stay on the paper. When I got past 28gr of 5744 I got the same thing.

I always like seeing range reports so I thought I'd share.

I've done well with 5744 in the .308 also. RCBS 30-180-SP over 25.0/5744 in a heavy bbl 700. Sometimes, some things just seem to work right. Good on you!

Nice shooting! What did you use for a bench set up to do the shooting?

cs86 - Now you're making me want to get another .30 mold and load some up for my 700 stainless in .308. Love that rifle. Shoots better than me. Mike

I don't have a chrono. If I remember right I thought 24gr of 5744 was around or under the 2000fps range by the books for a 180gr. I think these where dropping closer to 175gr.

I had a fold out table I shot from. Nothing fancy or rock solid, but works for my testing. I shot these off a bipod and a sand bag under the stock.

The first time I went out from a clean barrel I shot a 1/2" 4 shot group after 1 barrel conditioning shot. I figured 10+ rounds would give me a better idea. first shot from barrel wasn't recorded on these targets, but they were shooting to the left about 1-1.5" and sometimes a little high.
