Does anyone have any experience with Lymans #311410 Bullet? I just got a mold for it and it casts 126grains with my alloy at .310 as cast. I'm thinking about trying it with the 300 savage for target shooting and plinking.
Thanks!
Mike

I have played with it in my SKS and went to a gas checked boolit. I got fair groups at 1400 fps. Gianni

Nearest I can offer is some experience with 311255, which after lapping is 119 grains, and looks much like yours except it has a crimp groove and a slightly larger nose radius. If you find a way to use it successfully as a target bullet let's hear about how you did it - so far I've never done better at 55 yards than 1.2" from my 30-30 (8 grains of AP70N, sold as Universal in the US) and 1.5" from my 30-06 (same load, but with a polyester tuft). The 30-30 doesn't seem to gain from the tuft, and max load is reduced to 7 grains. However this is all based on a small number of tests. Velocity has to be kept fairly low - POI at 55 yards is 3.3" lower than a 30-06 gas-checked target load (19 grains 4759 behind 311291), so it is probably about 1400 fps, which is usually found to be the limit for 30 caliber flat base bullets. My bullets were 14 BHN.

If you decide to try using a tuft or other filler, remember: no air space, or you'll probably ruin your rifle and possibly your head.

I bought some from a commercial caster (Western Bullet) to try. Could not find accuracy in my 30-30 but my T/C 32 H&R does well with it. Of course that barrel shoots most everything well.

Just to confuse things, there are at least two 311410 designs. I have an older mould that is flat based and which has done very well as a plinker in a string of .308s. The current production is bevel base.
