Got about 80 pounds of free lead today! They are cast in long bars with 1 hole on the end, they are about 1-1/2" in diameter and have reliefs about every 4" so I assume you can snap them off to throw into the melt. Without a picture does anyone know what they might be?? Camera is dead now. Thanks!!

WOOOHOOOO!!!! After some inter-web browsing and MaryB's input they are defiantly Lino Type ingots!! They have almost a "PING" when you bump them together!! I'm really happy about this because I have some Dead Soft Plumbers pipe I need to alloy! What is a good recipe for this? I have never done this before, I want 12-14 BH to shoot out of my 9MM and 45ACP I also have some Pewter to throw in the melt to help with mold fill. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!!

Mix the linotype and soft lead at 70% lead and 30% linotype.

This link is from the classics and stickies. It is a great read. Pay attention to chapter 3. It talks about lead and alloys.

Thanks for the info!! I will give that link a read!! I have to still melt the Plumbers pipe to ingots and clean it up. Never did it because I knew I needed something to harden it to shoot! But like many here I'm not turning down any Lead never mind FREE LEAD!!! By the time I'm done I should have at least 150 more pounds of prepped Boolit Alloy for my "STASH"!!
