I took out my new to me Marlin GS to the range, I shot my standard load of 40 grains of IMR 4198 under a 420 gc cast RCBS boolit.
At 60 yards the 5 shot group clustered into a 1.5 inch group, these clocked in at 1640 fps.
I have a compact Leupold 3-9 mounted on it, just in time for bear season, now I don't have to take my collectible Winchester 86 out and risk scratching it. :}

I really like the GS rifles too and have shot a few sub-moa groups with a 405gr cast with Unique. I am now loading test rounds with a 350gr BTB and H-322.

I too have an JM stamped 1895GS. It will likely be the last gun out of my lever collection to ever go (barring family heirlooms of course). Yes, I like it that much. I also have on it a low power adjustable scope on it. Burris or Leupold I think, but it's the best woods gun. I look my last deer with it in the 2012 deer season. Didn't hunt last year. I took a healthy doe with it using a 400gr WFN. It entered in the left rib cage and went through the far right shoulder and kept on going. She ran 30-40 yards and piled up. Clipped the heart and bright red blood everywhere. I love that gun. May need to take her out tomorrow for some R and R.
