I have a 20# keg of IMR3031 from an estate, it's been in an air conditioned closet for the past 20 or so years.
Faint ether odor, no brown dust.
I'd appreciate any guidance on how to tell if it's usable. LC

You have already "Tested" it.
It is fine.

If you are afraid of it, I would be happy to take it off your hands.

Put a pinch on the driveway and light it up, once you watch it go poof or pooooof you will feel fine

Find a load from a manual and run it across a Chronograph. If the fpps is what the manual says or close it is the same as the original state.

I received a pound of IMR3031 this winter that's so old it is in a "blue" can, not the modern red can. Smells good, looks good, and tastes good so I ran some side by side comparisons in my .350 Rem Mag Model 673. The old "blue" can IMR3031 was within 38 fps (faster) of of a freshly opened red can. Accuracy was excellent also and the difference in velocity is about what one would expect of a different lot number of the same powder.

If I found a 20 pound supply of IMR3031 I would be happier than a pig in whale poop and would be working up loads in everything I own!

I do hope you went out and got a lottery ticket? As like others here I could sure use some IMR-3031 :).

MMM-MMM-MMM! 45-70 with 350-405 grn. boolits loves 3031. I would be loadin' that stuff up and makin' plans to go out and snuggle up real tight to the butt of a model '86 SRC.
