My son and I went to the range yesterday with my M1A. Son had not been to the range in many years and had never fired the M1A. Ammo was with cast bullets (Mihec 30 cal SIL). After 5 get-used-to-it shots my Son printed this group at 100 yards with NM iron sights. )8 shots, 2 in same hole at X ring and 2 in same hole at the 9). I say not bad for the load and great for the kid's first shoot in several years and very first with the M1A.

Excellent!

And the specifics on the cast bullet (alloy/lube/size/GC) and the load (powder, charge, filler, primer, case)?

Thanks for the kind comments. I passed them on to my son. He had left the sport for several years and I am trying to get his interest up again. Your comments on his shooting have helped. Hopefully he will practice for and compete in the next CMP match at our small club's range in a couple of months.

As far as the load goes many thanks go to BruceB and Larry Gibson for their many posts on the subject of cast boolits in the M1A which provided me guidance and saved me much experimentation to be sure.
