Mouse fart loads for my pistol

223 bullberry encore with Unertl.
Short eye relief and muzzle blast was annoying so I tried some pistol powder loads. I used some unique, 5-7 grains in 0.5g increments. 6 g had some promise and pleasant to shoot

I hadn't seen one of those Bullberry step-up barrels for a long time. That is a good looking rig with the external adjusting scope. Is it a Unertl or another type? I wonder about your boolits though, looks like they have very long gas checks on them.

I shot a fair amount of unique with 44 and 55 grain boolits. I think 6.5 grains was the best load and they shot really well inside of 75 yards, but my 100 yard groups didn't hold together very good on paper. I found IMR 4759 and 3031 held together better at farther distances. I never tried reduced loads with jacketed bullets in the .223.

I use 4.2 gr. Unique and a 46 gr. Winchester HP for a nice .22 Mag. replacement. Does about 1140 fps and had a 10 std. dev.

How does the brisiance of a mouse fart compare to a small pistol primer?

I plink with a 40 gr boolit and 5.5 gr unique in a TC 14" pistol. Works well ot to about 75 yards (small pistol primers)

Have you chronoed them? If I had 12#'s of Unique I'd be using that too. What kind of finish is on your wood?
