Hello
I have a chance to pick up a 637 pro shop 38+p for around $400
Is that a worth while deal.
Are they a decent gun and shoot well.
It looks to be never fired.
Thanks in Advance

The factory web site lists the 637 Airweight as 38 +P capable and a list price of $469 for the "non Pro Shop" version.

I once had a model 37 Airweight in my LE days and it was a great back up gun so I would surmise that the 637 should also serve well. My current Model 60 (no dash and all stainless) doesn't get fired with +Ps as it is rather old now.

Thanks for the info.
I am not looking to put full power loads. Just a small wheel I can dial in with some good cast bullets and use as a carry gun.
I don't want to put 1000's of rounds a year thru it just em ought to stay comfortable with it.

Just purchased another 642, TALO edition, enhanced by S&W Performance Center. With taxes, it came close to $500 at my LGS.
Highly recommend over the standard. Day and night difference in trigger pulls. Now, I have to get the trigger re-worked on the standard one.

I think its a bit high.
$350, if in great shape for a used one.

I purchased in Jun 11' a new 442 Pro from S&W on the Military program. It was one of the first ones produced. 1 7/8", blacked stainless steel cylinder, +P rated, no lock (only the Centennials) and cut for full moon clips. The moon clips besides faster reloading gives the more positive extraction of the fired cases at once. You don't have to use moon clips as standard speed loaders work as do speed strips (what I carry as their flat in rear pocket) or loose rounds. IIRC I paid $350ish. I carry mine daily in a Uncle Mikes pocket holster.

The one I am looking at looks like it has not been shot. The wheel is not even scratched.
This one has the longer grip also. Feels very good in the hand. I held one of the short grip models and I did not like the feel of it. My hands are a little bigger and it felt like I struggling to get a grip on it.

Not a great price, but not horrid either. If the gun fits you and you are correct in describing it as mint, then I'd buy it. They will not get cheaper--except maybe on the internet, where if you got it free, there's somebody who will tell how he was paid to take one!

Prices from three years ago are interesting only as history: I used to pay a nickel for a Snickers bar and sold gas for 20.9 cents a gallon, but I sure can't buy either of those today for those prices.

I have a 637 with a before me trigger job. Don't know who did what to it but it shoots great. Accurate at 15 yards if I do my part. Shooting 100 rounds in a session does leave my hand a little sore.
