I just received my new Bridgeport c sharps last week and am trying to get everything together to start reloading (becoming expensive). The only problem that I've run into is that I can't seem to figure out the twist rate of the barrel. Does c sharps have a standard twist rate? Also if anyone has a c sharps could you tell me where the twist rate would be located at on the barrel, all I see is the "cal .45 2 1/10" and "old reliable". And here's a picture of it.103531

Give them a call, you might get an answer from them.

C Sharps has a stock of barrels on hand ussually, in various calibers twists lengths and contours. 1-18 is pretty p[opular for 45 2 1/10 with heavy bullets. Call them have rifles serial number handy as they may need it. It may also be on the order sheet in the paper work that came with the rifle.

Ya I might just give them a shout. @country gent, that's the first place I looked I was thinking them same thing but didn't see it.

When they were using Badger barrels the .45 cals. were 1-18" twist.

If you insert a cleaning rod from the muzzle, put a bronze brush on it while it's sticking out the back, pull it in until it engages the rifling, clip a clothespin on the rod against the muzzle, and pull it out until it has made one revolution, and measure from the muzzle to the pin you will know the twist rate. Makes a really easy way to measure twist.

It's almost certainly 1:18. Unless you specify 1:16 that's what they'll give you.

I just recieved an 1885 hi wall from c. sharps and I did not request a specific twist rate. It is a 45-90 with a heavy barrel and it is beautifull. I checked the twist rate and it is a 1 in 16 I just automatically thought it would be 1in 18 like all my other 45 cal. rifles. is there an advantage to having a faster twist rate.

That faster twist should keep the 550 gr bullets stable at 1000 yds and beyond, where the 18 twist may have some problems in some wind conditions.
