Full case in a 6.5 Remington mag, that's why I bought it. I don't have one but, same thing goes for the 264 Win Mag. And don't for get the Weatherby mags

I still have a bruise on my shoulder from a nearly full 338W case of H870 and a 200 grain boolit. Velocity was around 2300 fps and accuracy was non-existent.

I have some AA8700 which I think is the same stuff. Very, very slow burning.

I used it in 7mm Mag with 150 grain bullets and according to the load data I found for it, you cannot fit enough in a case to get an overload. So if you have something real overbore with a large case capacity, it should work for you.

I did find in a manual somewhere a load for heavy cast in the .30-06 and tried it in a sporterized Mauser and the 311284. Decent accuracy and around 2000 FPS according to that load data (I think it was in my Lee manual). That ought to make a good deer load.

20mm Vulcan was its orginal use. Good for 7mm mag also.

I used it for 220 gr. bullets in the .300 Weatherby, too slow for much else, certainly not much use for cast boolits.

I use WCC 860 (Most lots burn rate is very close to 870) for full power loads in the 7mm Mag and the .338 Lapua. OK in the 25-06 with 120 gr bullets. You should be able to find a useful load in most over bore cartridges. Federal 215 primers are your friend.

Not so! It has given some very good results in both straight wall and bottle neck cases with cast boolits in duplex loads.
I shot a 45/70 at the Quiggley match using a duplex load with H-870 and it did a very fine job.
I have a couple targets with 5 shot groups at 100 yards fired from a B-78 Browning 30/06 using a diplex load also with 870 and a 200gn LBT-LFN boolit right at about moa grouping. There were others but those come to mind and I am sure I am not the only one that has done so.

My dad did this with a .45-70 Rolling Block and said it shot great, but was dirty. Like I said, it did well with heavy cast in .30-06. If you an get it cheap, do it. Just understand, it takes a LOT to get things done with it, so from an economy stand point, it may not be the cheapest thing to use even if you get it cheap.

I used it in a 25/06 years ago. Guy at the ranged asked me if I had tried it, I told him no. He said "You oughta, it's so slow it burns all the way to the target!". It worked well in the 25/06 with magnum primers and Sierra bullets.

Heck you can use it in just about anything. I like a full case of it in .308, 8mm, 30-06, 7mm,
30-30, pretty much fill the case leaving room for the bullet & seat it. Will usually run right at
1500~1850 fps with just about any combination. Seems to work pretty accurate in this application as well.

I got 11 lbs of H870 from a friends estate. He used it in a .375 H&H and a 7mm Rem Mag for full bore loads. But did not leave any recipes so I do not have any useful information from the family. I assume he used standard manual numbers as I got all the usual books too but no margin notes for this powder. He used it of j-word bullets and I have done the same. It don't shoot for sh_t in 300 WBy with a 180 SST, I finally gave up and pulled the bullets after trying 5 sets of 5 weights. The gun shoots sub MOA with RL22 but this stuff was spraying them into 8 inches at a 100. My experience is that it is bulky, 92 gr filled a 300 WBY case and had to be compacted. Research I did say it is just a little slower then 50 BMG. Maybe in light loads for CB's it would work.

My Krag loved 50 grains under 311284, FWIW
