I'm looking for a nice light load for my .41 mag. Using 210gr LSWC. I have these powders on hand, Green Dot, AA#5, Bullseye, and HP-38. Or if other powder suggestions I would know what to look for. I'm thinking something in the 800fps range from a Smith and Wesson M57, 6" barrel. I already have some medium and heavy loads that work well but can never find info on real light target type loads. Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and get some 'Trailboss', I use it in just about any thing I load for, you cannot do a double chg with this powder.

I really like 6 gr of Bullseye in either of my 41's (Ruger and TC). I am using the Lee 210 gr TL. This load is light but not ultra-light. About 900 fps in the revolver and about 1280 in the 14" TC by my chronograph. I consider it a good workhorse load that is easy to shoot in either.

6.5 of Bullseye or 7.0 of HP-38 have worked well with me with a 210 LSWC in the .41 Magnum. I shoot a M27 w/a 8" barrel.

Try 4 gr. of that Green Dot. Very pleasant load.

This is kind of what I was thinking, I prefer to use my Green Dot. I'm trying to save the BE for my .38 WC loads. I'm mostly hoping to use either the Green Dot or the AA#5 since I don't use them as much in my other loads. I didn't know how low to go with the Green Dot though so I'll give this a try.

I've been forever looking for TB, tough one to find but from all accounts an excellent choice.

Trailboss is definitely a good way to go for mild loads. I found a 5-lb container at the gun show in Chantilly last Friday.

I've used 4 gr. of GD in my .41 Bisley. You might want to try some test loads from 4 to 7 grains until you find a sweet spot.

I work in Manassas so it's a straight shot up 28 for me. Ah well, maybe next show or if I'm lucky the SGK show in Manassas. I really wished there was a good supplier in NOVA for reloading supplies.

Cool, thanks. Right now my favorite with the GD is 8.2 gr, 1" group @ 15yd pretty consistently if I do my job. I was thinking of starting @ 7gr and working down to see what happens, just didn't know how low I could go without a squib. I think I'll try it in 1gr increments and then fine tune it from there.

Sounds like a good plan. I work in Manassas too...teacher at Stonewall Jackson High

6.5 gr of W231 under a 215gr SWC yields me a consistent 970fps out of my 6" M57.

That's my "plinking" load.

6 gr of Bullseye under the Lee TL410-210-SWC works very well for me. Ran about 850 fps from 4" M58 & M57s, 875 or so from a 6" M57 and 930 fps from my 7 1/2" Ruger Bisley. Very accurate in all of them.

My current favorite is 6.8 of RedDot under the Miha 200gr HP. Easy recoil and stupid accurate.

That's my "plinking" load.I have used this one with good results, only with HP-38. Very similar to my 8.2 gr Green Dot load.

Ok so I loaded up some light loads with the GD, started at 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, then 6grn. Just shooting offhand they were all pleasant to shoot, shot nice and clean, and they all grouped about the same. So I'm going to load up a box of the 4grn and see how much I like em for goofin around. Nice thing is @ 10yd the sights are right on for this, the 8.2 grn GD and my heavier IMR 4227 loads.

Glad I could help. I am anxiously awaiting my new MP mold so I can use the lightweight boolit with a small charge for more light plinking loads.
