If anyone has loaded cast bullets for the 375-JDJ and used a mouth flaring die, which die have you used? I would love to get a Lyman M-Die for this and have a request out to Lyman to see if they have any suggestions. I'm currently using a 9mm die to perform this step but from the attached picture you can see the rig. Not the best solution but it works. So...anybody have a suggestion other than an M-Die if they don't make one which will work?

I would appreciate his contact info. I'll have that in case I need it. Man I wish I was a machinist.

I am not sure what a 375 jdj is, but the m dies are not caliber specific. Can't you just use one with the 375 expander?

the m die is a fav of mine in the jdj ( at least for cast ) i've also used my hornady 375 win expander with decent results ,natchez is usually a couple bucks cheaper than midway but ...midway currently has them in stock

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/296463/lyman-neck-expander-m-die-37-caliber?cm_vc=ProductFinding

i much prefer either above method as opposed to something like the lee universal case mouth flaring tool ( by way ) a 38-55 expander also works ( especially from a rcbs cowboy die set )

so ummm ..what boolit ya usin' ? ( inquiring minds want to know :P ) i've had a heap o fun with a noe 220 hp !!! currently working up some loads with their brp version

I wasn't sure that would work on the shorter 444 cases. I love the M-Die on my 30 cal stuff and just wanted to check and see if their 375 Die would work here.

I use a Accurate Mold bullet, the 376265D, which I no longer can find on Tom's web site in the catalog. It is very similar to the 37-260D listed there. My bbl is very fussy with this bullet and cases must be trimmed to 2.220, bullets sized to .376 and COAL set to 2.780". Sizing to .375 lets the bullets slip and migrate.

I also had Tom send me two molds for the 411-JDJ. At 340 grains, you can really get that beast smoking.
If you don't know of Tom's molds, they can be seen here. http://www.accuratemolds.com/index.php

Thanks for the reply....

actually i contemplated long and hard about the mold you have , then the group buy for the 220 noe came up lolz ,it's still on his website but further down the page ( listed as a 38 ) at least i think it's the mold you have .. http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=38-265D-D.png
some of my best shooting from the 14" contender barrel has been with an old lee 250 grain( of note the newer style blocks are too fat for my tight barrels and sizing them down really messes them up ) the longer carbine barrel and 15" encore seems to have different preferences ,yet all seem to have fairly tight bores ( .375-.376 respectively ) as opposed to various 375 barrels ( namely lever actions )
iirc there's 3 ( maybe 4 ) sizes of the m-die bodies but the 375 m die works as is ( it's short enough to work with my various 375 win's and 38-55's )

if you change your extractor to a rimless version you can use 30-06 based cases ( handy to know as sometimes 444 brass can be made of unobtainium ) or you could poke'm out with a rod ,this is where my cut off lee decapping stem works wonders ,as is erm as expanded it's the perfect size for j-words
ch4d will make custom expanders as well if you wish to go that route ( i think fairly reasonable but ... that's subjective :P )

if you call lyman you can just get the plugs needed to go in the die bodies you already have ( they dont seem to list them on their website - it's a plot i say ! a conspiracy of the highest level ,to sell whole die bodies of course ;) )

My mistake! It's the 38265D mold.
Here it is: http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=38-265D-D.png

I've noticed too that a phone call sometimes can work wonders at Lyman, RCBS, etc..to find a tool that you suspect exists. I sure miss the reloading section at the larger gun stores and the associated knowledge-base that went along with it. Thanks for all the info too. That is very useful. I have the 411-JDJ loads worked out and now I'm playing with the 375 & cast bullets. It just never ends.....

Those are SWEET looking. What alloy did you run for the HP's?

in all fairness it's al's foto from the web site ( i take terrible pictures )
mostly #2 , at least in the gas checked ones ( both are rg4's and both are 2 cav pb and 2 cav gas check shanked ) i've gone as soft as 3 lead to 1 coww , they heat treat easily enough to 21-22 bhn ( after aging a week ) not surprising is the fact that the jdj's seem to prefer a harder alloy than say my 375 win's ,i'd like to think that pressure somehow applies but in honesty they run close ,some tell me i can run the encore's hotter but ...ummmm i'll let them do it to their own :P
sometimes i toy with the idea of a round ball umm gallery load ... i use one in the win to blow out 30-30 cases for plinking brass ,bet if a person could get a crimp on it with a case full of black powder it'd scoot right along and provide enough muzzle flash and smoke for the fourth of july ( or summin' :P )

Thanks for all the replies. The M-Die arrived today and it will work just fine. Much better than the 9mm expander!
