Hello,

this pistol is offered to me.
I am from Germany, the pistol was built from a gunsmith called "Pfeifer" or "Pfeiffer" a few years ago.
It is .45 ACP, 6 Inch Slide.
Can anyone tell me something about the gunsmith, the used parts or can you give me a few opinions and impressions about this gun?
Is this Kind of a high-end custom gun?

Thanks a lot!!

I'm guessing it came from these people:

I wish I could give you the name of the gunsmith, but a search for P.T. Master (and a number of variations on the name) did not return a good result.

I had not heard of Aristocrat sights before, but it is a U.S. company:

Your pistol shares several of the features of the STI Targetmaster, such as the Aristocrat sights:

http://www.stiguns.com/the-sti-target-master/

But other pictures of the STI Targetmaster show that it does not have the square barrel chamber, external extractor, and the small ejection port. Those features resemble some of the Taurus and Glock pistols.

I recommend that you post your question and pictures to one or more of the forums that are dedicated to model 1911 pistols and its variations:

It's a beautiful variation of the 1911 and I will guess that it is a very custom pistol. The frame appears to be standard 1911, but the upper assembly looks like it is one-of-a-kind (einzigartig, einmalig). I may be mistaken.

Good luck,
Richard

The Aristocrat rear sight is set up for PPC shooting. There are three sight adjustments that can be made with the 1, 2, 3 adjustment screws for 15 yards, 25 yards and 50 yards. Once the sights are adjusted for each distance, then a simple turn of the screw on the right side of the sight base will turn the sight for the distance chosen.

That appears to be a well made firearm, and my guess would be it's for PPC shooting, due to the rear sight, though it can be used for various other shooting games, too. It looks like a pistol I would be proud to own.

Hope this helps.

Hello Fred,

thanks for your Explanation.
In Germany we mostly shoot 25 meters distance.
But it is good to have other Options with this fast and easy adjustable sight.
In Germany the aristocrat sights cost 300 euros.

Best regards

Fred,

Interesting info about the sight and it does indicate the pistol's probable purpose.

I hope it gets tracked down, because that upper assembly really intrigues me.

Thanks,
Richard

I really, really like the look of that pistol! I'm betting with the right loads it's a tack driver.

The nice thing about the Aristocrat, and other 3 position PPC sights, is you zero the #1 sight setting for up close, the #2 setting for medium distances, and the #3 setting for long distances. Then all you have to do is turn the side screw to the number for the distance you're shooting and you're sights are right on. It eliminates the need for holdover and holdunder for those known distances. They were invented when I was shooting a lot of PPC matches on our dept. pistol team in the 1970's. I already had a Bomar Rib mounted on my K-38 at the time, but several of the team members sprung for the 3 position sights and really liked them. I shot several, and there was a definite advantage to using them, as long as you didn't forget to change the setting when you moved back to the 50 yard line............

Hope this helps.

One thing I would change on that pistol is the backstrap, since the straight backstrap eats the palm of my hand. A rounded backstrap fits me much better and makes the grip more comfortable in my hand. Some people like them, but I've changed out all my straight ones for curved on my 1911's and Delta Elites.

Hope this helps.

Do you want to part with your flat mainspring housings?

Hello,

thanks for your help to everybody.
A friend of mine got the right informations, the gun was built by a german gunsmith.
I called him and he told me it is an old gun that was handmade at least 13 years ago and cost 4700 german mark.
If he built one today it would cost 2700 Euro (5400 deutsche Mark in old currency)
The seller wants 2300 Euro, the gun is unfired and "brandnew".
So i think i will buy it tomorrow.
Heres a link to the gunsmith, watch Photo #1

Manuel,

That is one fine example of the gunsmith's art, as long as it feeds and functions, and is accurate. I have no doubt it will probably do all three.

Dan,

I don't even know what I did with the four flat mainspring housings I replaced. I've got pretty large hands and the end of the mainspring housings just dug into the heel of my hand, so they got replaced with something I liked better.

Hope this helps.
