I've posted a few times concerning my problems with "Search" on this board. I ran across this:

http://tinyurl.com/k3m87cq

on the Handloader's Bench. Apparently, they have problems with "Search" there too. I know others have put up similar solutions to "search" function but this one explains how Google works for just about any thing you want to search for.

I printed it out for my use. Maybe you will find it useful too.

Use this, the Google Custom Cast Boolits Search Page (https://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=001951264366462437169:ggn3vg-bjum).

That is great for Cast Boolets. Just what I needed. I think what I posted might be OK for other sites.

I created that custom search a while back, then posted a link to it a year and a half ago in this thread.
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?179152-I-am-being-stalked-and-harassed-by-Montana-Charlie-continually

Since then, there have been a half dozen discussions that I have participated in where the link was shared with others, and I have 'lurked' other threads where the link has been passed on. I would presume that there were more that I never knew about ... and in all of that time nobody has suggested that it should be made permanently available.

Since it is something that would benefit ANY user, regardless of forum section or issue in question, you might think it would have been pounced upon by the CEO of the site ... when the link was posted to that original thread in a reply to him.

But, when you look at the hodge-podge of subjects chosen as stickys and their unmanaged growth, it's obvious that adding 'stick' to this tool would be as useless as wondering which points on a mile of 5-strand barbed wire fence may need hand sharpening.

If asked, I would probably suggest that management place a 'hotlink' someplace on the upper portion of the page (all pages) where it would be easily accessible (and visible) to any who need it.

Or not ...

OK That is slick! I just tried it with a few "failed castboolit" forum searches I recently did and it hits paydirt every time. Great Now maybe the mods can figure out how to add that seach link to the header of this forum. In the meantime I'm bookmarking that sucker!!! Nice! Thank You for posting

Montana Charlie I saved that link right after you posted it. Before that I was using plain ol Google and it beat the socks off the site search.
The one you set up is the ticket for a search here. :drinks: Thanks !!

I really like that search page. Works very well on numerical searches like "30-30"

Thanks,

I agree with Montana Charlie; this should be a hot link at the top of the page that is prominently displayed. The organic search function of this site is all but worthless. Wait, I'll say it, it IS worthless!

And a big thank you to MC for creating the custom search page!

I agree with nicholst55. It should be a hot link(whatever that is) so others like me don't have to go thru trying to find something using the search function here.

I don't need it now since the first thing I did when you pointed it out, was to set it as a bookmark. I've used it several times since then.

I have pointed several people to this outstanding search engine a few times without knowing who to give credit. Hats off to Montana Charlie.
