I wonder if i use a musket nipple and cut down 22 brass with priming mixture if it would work on my caplock.
any one try this?

The result is too much pressure. If you use them in a pistol it generally half or fully cocks the hammer while throwing the brass energetically into your face, just above your eye.

It has been very consistant.

They work great on my muskets (Miroku 1863 and Parker Hale 1861) but not on other guns. Those big musket locks really smash the caps.

Since I discovered the Mag-Spark I quit doing that though. 209 primers are cheap and available, quite unlike musket caps and I don't have to make them. The 22 cases really are way too thick and tough. Those homemade primers sure light off the charge well though!
