Oh boy this Is a fun gun to shoot. I've only had it for a few months. Less then 1k rounds down range.

Cylinder just started spinning in the locked position.

Took it home and found the broken part.

Called Uberti. Turns out there supported by benelli USA. No questions asked shipping me the part.

He did mess up a bit and send me a great parts guide. Found the part number for a 45 acp cylinder. Woot.

Got the last one in stock at Brownell's.

Bill from benelli USA confirmed part will work

No more paying outrageous prices on colt brass.

I read an article in the 1952 GUN DIGEST about the Colt SA and how it was prone to breaking springs. The spring that broke on yours was one of them. The author went on to describe how to prevent it. I wish I had made a copy of the article before I sold the book.

That was not uncommon on the original Colts. What I have read is to round off the sharp corners of the 2 ends of the springs to make them less breakable.

To keep my 1851's, 1860's and 1873 Uberti revolvers running, I ordered several of these from Dixie Gun Works. It's a good idea to have at least one bolt spring, hand w/spring, and a hammer spring in your spares kit. Wolff also makes springs for these revolvers.

Yeah, those Colt singleshots.
They can be a headache, can't they?

I put Wolff springs in all of mine as soon as I get the gun and have never broken one. :D

The Heinie music wire springs Brownells sells work really well and don't break.

Probably needs to be fitted to the frame, and timed.

I have a Uberti from about 8 years ago from Navy. The entire insides just gave up. I got some colt parts from some friends and re set, and timed the gun, and now she runs flawless.
I really advise to get several paws like Tar Heel said. I would also get some trigger/cylinder stop springs, as they don't last either, no matter what you are shooting, US or Import.

btw NEVER fan one, it is the worst thing you can do to a gun!
