What is the difference between the LYMAN NECK EXPANDER (M) DIE ( caliber specific)

and just the regular "M" die? Or are they one and the same animal? Have pity .

I thought about getting the M die, but I got the Lee expander set instead. They work great.

No difference but they are caliber specfic and you can order custom size expanders from Lyman.
or a few of us can make them.

I also purchased the LEE Universal Case Expander. One die for every caliber.

That's the reason I went with the Lee. It will do all cals.

The Lee die does not do the same thing as the Lyman M Die.

Both the Lee and the Lyman dies will bell the case mouth. The Lee will do any cartridge with one die.

If you need to expand the diameter of the neck, over the length of the neck, because your size die makes the neck small enough in diameter to deform cast bullets on loading, then the Lyman M die is the way to go. I find this to be the case more often in bottleneck rifle brass than in thinner, straight walled rifle brass or handgun brass.
