I've got a question about the head stamps on some 30-06 blank brass which I just found in my shop. It is the blank ammo that had a cardboard disk sitting on a crimp about 1/8 inch in. Most of it is stamped L C 53 which I'm guessing means Lake City but some of the brass has EW 42 or M L 53 as a head stamp. Just wondering where the EW and M L came from. Hope it isn't rare, had over a 5 gallon bucket of the stuff which disappeared when I moved, bummer.
I've just started to clean the brass and resize them for my 7.7 Jap 100 grain plinker rounds. I'm giving my old Lyman Spartan press a real workout with this project. After 4-5 test shots the brass is still working fine in both of my Arisakas. Don't think I want to try loading for 30-06 with that crimp in the middle of the neck even as cast boolit plinkers and I can always use more 7.7 brass.
Thanks
Ed
