My dad used to have a 7 mauser back when I was a little kid. It was stolen several years ago and my dad talks about how much he liked it. Problem is he doesn't remember what model it was, only that it had a very long barrel, but would recognize it if he saw it.

Is there a site with pics of the different models of 7 mausers? If I could get him to pick it out I'd like to buy him a replacement as a surprise.

Any help is appreciated.

The model 1895 is probably the one.

Might suggest a 1908 or 1912 also:

I never understood how people could not know what gun they had (I dated a girl once who didn't know that she drove a Chevy Impala......????) but have heard of it before, especially if he didn't buy it himself. But unless you ask him about markings, show him pictures, etc., I don't see a way to find out. There umpteen variations on 7mm long rifles. Some are 93 actions, some are 95 actions, of course the famous 98 action.... Brazil, Spain, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, etc. etc....... If I were just going to get him a 7mm, I'd get a Brazilian 08; 98 action, long rifle, if not identical it would be close and not break the bank either.
