Except for a brief stent with a 1911 I've shot sixguns all my life. Being 63 & retired I decided it was time to try another auto loader. About a year ago I purchased a Pre B, 75 from our LGS. Thought was, it can be shot DA first shot or carried cocked & locked so might be a good platform for learning. I worked up a load using 3.3 grains of Promo & the Saeco 928 which has been fine for all I know.

The other day USMC87 came by with a Lee 6 cavity 9-125-RN. I cast several boolits & loaded these over 3 grains of the same powder & a HMF primer.

Both boolits were sized .356 & lubed with Carnuba Red. Using an auto is completely different than my sixguns & I'll be awhile learning. Shooting results below.

Standard 7 yard drill with the Lee boolit.

This target was fired offhand at 18 yards. The target should say Saeco 928 but I had a senior moment.

I agree Creeker an auto is different , I get a flinch complex from seeing the slide come back & the brass flying, then it takes me awhile to over come it.

Some will say ya can`t see it , but I tell ya I do !

Fantastic pistols. I remember when I was first shooting them, they didn't stand out. Nothing about it really ignited my enthusiasm. But the more I shot one, the more I realized I couldn't find any fault. It always worked, and was accurate, and felt good in my hand, and did everything well. I developed a faith and confidence and comfort level with a CZ75 9mm that I never had with any other pistol.

Gp100mAN i AGREE. iALSO HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE FLINCH FROM SEEING THE SLIDE COMING AND THE BRASS EJECT. I think it is the light flash reflection that gets me.
Lah looks like you are doing prtty good for the new to autos.

Cz75 is an awesome handgun.

Complete understatement.....should have said "like totally awesome dude"............[smilie=l:

Love mine. Favorite load is any 115 - 125 gr cast over 4 gr Bullseye.....mostly Lee 356-120-TCs these days. I size them .357 and lube with BAC. Incredibly accurate, excellent DA pull but the cocked and locked carry gets my vote. Only 9mm I own these days.

I picked up a CZ 85 in the late 80's while in Germany. The difference is mostly the ambidextrious safety. I had a gunsmith at Frankonia clean the trigger pull a bit and it shoots pretty well for a 9mm. The CZ family fireartms are might good.

I bought mine a few months back from a LGS. Its the Police version, which has a round indicator and a little loop for a lanyard. The magazine bottoms were bought from a CZ parts reseller. Its the best shooting 9mm that I have ever shot and great prices at mid $500's

It is the original "Wonder 9" and hasn't been beaten by any newer offering yet. Spent a few years trying to find one locally and it was a happy day when I finally did.

The CZ 75 is one of those sleeper guns out there. They tend to be far better pistols than most people realize. I owned a copy years ago and like a fool, sold it to fund the purchase of some other inferior gun. I've shot a few since then and someday I'll replace it.
I've always considered the grip of a CZ 75 to be one of the best and as close to the Browning Hi-power as you can get in a DA/SA pistol. The long slide rails on the inside of the frame contribute to the accuracy and durability of the design. The slight downside to the CZ is the weight of all that forged steel. The weight & strength of that old world gun is a plus in terms of durability and actual shooting but it's a bit of a downside for carry.

So, for an old revolver guy thinking about a wunder-nine, what make/version is the best? I'd want full-size.

Bring back? Now that would have violated regulations wouldn't it:wink:

Nice shooting LAH! Might be a CZ75 in my future too, picked up a S&W M&P 9 for my wife, which she really like the grip feel and can rack the slide easy on, but her brother let her try his CZ75B and she talked more about that gun then hers after we left the range. Although she did shoot her M&P pretty well for her real first range session.

Depends on what you like? The CZ75B is much like my CZ. I have average length fingers & the DA pull is a reach for me. It is a little shorter if I carry with hammer on first notch. The thumb safety isn't quite large enough for me either but I'm sure you could find someone do does an extended safety.

Some will suggest a Glock & they are fine but the grip hurts my hand as the lower rear corner sits against an old surgery scar from the Army days.

If you want a full size striker fired handgun I like the S&W MP series. You could also be serious & get the 5" C.O.R.E model. Can't go wrong with these.

Pick what options you want:
75 B - SA/DA
75 BD - SA/DA w/ Decocker
75 B SA - SA Only
75 B Omega - SA/DA w/ Omega trigger
75 SP-01 - SA/DA w/ P-01 grip geometry
85 B - SA/DA w/ ambi safety
85 Combat - SA/DA w/ no firing pin block and adjustable sights. A few other additions as well

There are more versions but you get the point. They all shoot great so find one w/ the options you want. I'm looking for an Omega so I can play w/ that trigger system. Taking the 75 trigger apart is not something you want to attempt. Good thing all you have to do to clean them is spray them down w/ your preferred type of CLP and you're done.

Those CZ75's are fine autoloaders. I'm a bit partial to my P226, another fine platform but a scosh bigger for my hand. Those 2 and the BHP are probably the Holy Trinity when it comes to 9mm pistols, IMHO.

Could have been a pistol purchased at a Rod & Gun Club in Europe and brought back using a ATF Form 6 which was a temporary import permit for an individual and no import stamp would be there. or it could have been from somewhere else the US has been involved with in the last few years.

I have a 75B in both 9mm and in .40 cal ...both bone stock and going to stay that way..used to Wolf spring things to death and these shoot great and are staying stock..I also have a German and a Bulgarian Makarov which are very similar to the CZ 73...wouldnt trade them for the world..they are 9x18 caliber which is just a tad bigger than the .380 but accurate, cheap and fun shooters..sort of the "grand parents" of the CZ's. nothing like them...I had a CZ 97 in.45 cal and like a fool traded it...looking for one to replace it now..super accurate...gotta have big hands though.

75 B SA - SA Only

For a range and fun gun the dedicated SA only version easily beats the SA trigger pull of the DA/SA version.

The SA version also has the upswept beaver tail on the frame which makes it even nicer in the hand.

I have a 75B in 40 S&W. I've since removed the DA parts and installed the competition hammer and SA trigger all at extra cost after the fact.

I've considered selling my EAA Witness to fund purchase of the SA CZ 9mm for a fun gun.

CZ makes (or made, I heard they have been discontinued ) a 22 conversion unit. I've had one for several years an it used to be a cheaper way to shoot it. Works magnificently. Pistol looks same with conversion unit on it.

That would be the Kadet. It's still listed on their site but I haven't seen one in a long time.
