I read the excellent information about CB loads for large rifles in the stickies. The standard load is 16 grains of 2400 and that load is also mentioned in Lyman's cast bullet manual. I've been unable to get A2400 in today's market.

I have a good quantity of Green dot that I use in 12 gauge field loads. I also have a small quantity of Unique but I'd like to reserve that for magnum pistol loads.

Does anyone have actual experience with Green Dot in 7.62x54R using the Lee 312-185 GC bullet? I measured the bores using Cerrosafe and the .312" is a good choice. Out of 7 rifles, my barrels are remarkably consistent!

I'll use the same bullet in .303 British rifles.

I also have a .309"-150 Lee GC mold for 30 caliber. If I can get Green Dot to work in these, I'm in!

What say you......................Green Dot? Have you actually tried it?

Thanks!

Yeap, 4.2gr in the .32-20 behind a NOE 314008 for just over 1000fps and 7.0gr under a 225415 in the .223 Rem for 2100fps.

Thanks! Any experience using Green Dot with heavier bullets (185gr)?

I have shot Green Dot in 303,7.62x54,8x57 and 308 ( all with usual boolit weights).

In 303 it worked better than Red Dot in others just the same as RD.

On average loads where about 0,3 Gr less than what I load with RD.

When developing loads I went with 12.5Gr and did a ladder every 0.2 Gr.

Make sure you get OAL right before developing load, just a hair before boolit touches rifling is a norm.

Yes, I have shot many hundreds of pounds of lead through rifles using Green Dot. I treat it as Red Dot for load workup, and usually end up very close, like one grain, to my best Red Dot loads. It makes a very good rifle powder for low velocity loads. Plenty for 200M shooting anyway.

This is a fun and very low noise load I cooked up for my Russian M91/30 that has a .308" bore you can shoot this load all day with out ear plugs and your ears won't ring at all

PPU brass federal large pistol magnum primer 3 grs. Of Bullseye with a little bit of a Cotten ball to keep the powder against the primer 180 gr. LEE .309-180r bullet lubed with 50/50 beeswax and LLA without a GC Use with fire formed cases This is a good plinking load but also works good for ground squirrels

Save your lead and shoot 32 cal pistol boolits and Green dot for the plinker loads. Good at/to 50 yds and accurate enough for small game or wild untamed soda cans. Buy shaving cream at the dollar store, shake it up, and let your kids shoot them up at 50 yds.
