SR1911 holster recommendations
I picked up a 5” SR1911, 45 for me, and a STI Electra, 9MM for the wife, and I’m looking for holster recommendations. Not necessarily CC but that’s not out either. I guess I’m asking, what do you like, and what would you stay away from.
Thanks Tony

I picked up this http://shopruger.com/SR1911-Mitch-Rosen-Inside-USD-Holster/productinfo/50191/ and am very happy with it. Daily carry for both open and conceal but always buy what's comfortable for your style.

I use a Wilson Combat Lo Profile...pulls it in tight, high enough you don't have to wear an oversize shirt to cover it

I've got 3 Winthrop IWB holsters and I very much like them. http://www.winthropholsterstore.com/servlet/the-49/Custom-Made-Glock-23/Detail The pics show it for a Glock but I've got them got a 5" 1911, an OACP and a BHP. Good people and products.

I happen to use a Blackhawk Serpa a lot with my 1911's.

I am a little on the heavy side and could not find an IWB that was comfortable for me, best I have found is Galco, with a strap over the slide (hammer back) I like having the strap between the hammer and the firing pin. The only downside is occasionally the safety comes off, so when I remove my gun at night, I automatically flip the safety up. I am able to conceal my 45 (5") under a loose heavy weight T-Shirt, and nobody the wiser.

I wear a Tagua dual snap. It's the most comfortable one I've found for a 1911 sized gun. I bought a Galco that looked just like it, but started to separate within days after I purchased it. Returned it and found this one on sale for under $40. 102525

For everyday use, I like Uncle Mike's 'sidekick' holsters; use one for my RIA 1911A1.

Milt Sparks - either VersaMax II or Watch Six. I have both, but mostly use the horsehide
Watch Six every day.

Thanks for the replies. Last night I was able to run a few round’s through both pistols and I am pleased. The Ruger is very nice, accurate and the best trigger I have ever pulled, that is until I fired the STI. The Electra, other than being pink, is easily the nicest firearm I have ever shot. I guess that should be expected as it was double the price of my most expensive gun, but if it will get the wife to shoot with me, its cheep at double the cost.

I use a Serpa paddle holster occasionally for my Glock 23. A guy I work with bought an Alien Gear holster and is pleased with it. From all the reviews I have read it seems like a well made product and extremely reasonable, as long as you can get over the name.

I really like Blade-Tech holsters.

Be careful with Yaqui type holsters. The extended mag release on mine kept engaging the holster and dropping the mag :( Not good when you are CHL.
