I posted this on the swaging forum too. No maker's name is listed. I bought a 5/16" bar as mine jump from 1/4" to 3/8". The price is sure right, regardless.

On E-Bay

1/4" bar:

Check the sellers store as they also had 5/16" and 1/2" solid carbide bars.

Buckshot,

Thanks!

I bought a 1/4 and 5/16" bar for about $60 each shipped. I probably would have only bought the 1/4, but I didn't find it initially so I bought the 5/16.

You're going to love those bars. The last 8 years that I spent in the shop, I worked on a Hardinge ToolRoom lathe. I had one of the 1/4" bars. Great tool as long as you treated it right. Well worth the bucks.

Rick,

WOW, that's cheap....... I dare not mention the price of the last set of Kennametal bars I last bought for work.

You may have fallen into a pile of STUFF with the layoff, but came out smelling like a rose on this deal. What inserts does it use?

You'll have to start running production runs instead of onesy- twoseies.......................new cash flow.

Thanks for the new link. I bought a 3/16" solid carbide bar. Probly will get a 1/4" one too. It looks like you could just call them up and buy their items. All of their items are buy it now, so they must want to sell them at those prices. BTW, they have both 4" and 6" double acting CNC vises. A little heavier duty than Grizzly"s (probly a little more accurate too).

The 6" one's about $180 with 104 DOLLARS SHIPPING to my zip. The 4' vise is $140 with $40.00 shipping. Thang must weigh a ton!

I received my boring bar already and it looks great, but of course I don't have anything to compare it to as this is my first boring bar....

A cutter for a 1/4" boring bar sure is tiny!

Do I need to put locktite or the screw after it's tightened down?

Thanks!

nope,it'll lock it'self in by the angle's matching up.

Take a really close look and you'll see what I mean.

Those little screw's are made to go in and out quite frequently,so don't loctite them in cause you could strip the head's

He's got some more bars on eBay :)

Do a search on "solid carbide boring bar". 3/16, 1/4, and 5/16 are listed along with others.
