Do these rifles shoot lighter boolits with good accuracy? Say 200 grain rnfp. I am asking because the only .45 Colt mold I have right now is a 250gr. swc. Thinking a lighter boolit will stretch my lead supply if they shoot good. The lightweights would only be used for ringing steel and targets. Thanks!!

all 3 of mine do fine with boolits from 160grs through the 270 swc's.
I lightly crimp over the front shoulder of my 454424, seat flush with the front drive band of the lyman 452630 200 gr swc, i have a 225gr rnfp that I also switch back and forth between the colt and the 45 acp.
i use the 452664 for just about everything else, except grouse when hunting deer, there I use the magma engineering 45-160 rnfp.

I have used 200gr SWC through the Lee 300gr, and all worked fine, although the 200gr SWC didn't feed very well. I usually use the Lee 252/255 RNFP/SWC and those feed very well and work on anything I have tried to take with it.

Mine does great with all... from 160 on up.... I loaded a bunch of 160gr. with Clays 6.2 grs... for a friend with detached retina problems,... and he absolutely loves it.... both his pistols and rifles eat them up.....

Mine shoots awesome with Mihec's 270-SAA and HS-6 (cloverleaf 5 shots at 60 yds). The only disappointment I have is that I wanted a gun to carry along with my Ruger Bisley and utilize one cartridge for both guns. Reality is that the chamber is so big on my Rossi that the cases bulge to the point that if I resize them a few times the case splits out right above the web. So, I don't resize the cases full length for my Rossi as to not work harden them and this means that I am now back to keeping separate loads for each gun. The bulge is noticeable to the eye so you can spot them pretty quick. I love my 92 and have slicked it up and refinished the stock and it shoots awesome. Cases fall about a foot to the right of my right foot and action is buttery smooth, it just has a fat chamber! As a mater of fact if I had to name this gun, I would call it "ole fat brass".

The Rossi rifles have a 1:30 rifling twist rate - that should work well for boolit weights from 200 to 300gr. I found that mine likes .454 boolits (and even .456). I cast some 220gr .456s last week and they all grouped well at 100 yards - but not as good as 270SAA boolits (.454 at 280gr).

When I stated shooting this rifle I used 45 ACP boolits and didn't get the accuracy I wanted. Going to a larger diameter round helped.

The Lee .456-220gr is fun to shoot with a medium charge of Unique (7 gr). Maybe not a deer hunting round, but fun to shoot.

My Rossi 92 likes 255 grain lRNFP,sized to 252 over 11.4 grains of Blue Dot and a filler of dracon shoot about 1.5" groups at 75 yrds.iron sights,no scope.Got about 800 rounds down the tube love it.

Greetings
If I had a 250 grainer and I desired a lighter boolit I would hollow point my already cast boolits.
Hardwood block or metal block will suffice to get a 1/8 hole drilled into your present supply. You can easily "hog" out 30 grains of lead. May even get up to 50 grains without getting too close to the base. No expense, you save your lead plus now have a versatile guide to now HP any caliber 45 boolit.

Get out there and shoot any 45's you have!

I shoot 160 thru 300 grain 45LC's in my Rossi lever and they work great. My wife LOVES the 300gn....she can hit almost anything at 50 yards!

I even shoot 160gn #4 birdshot 45's I make........... and they make an excellent scatter load for varmints and snakes.

For loads, I just follow the published books and 70% or so loading. Nice fun gun to shoot.
