I just found 2 unopened cans of FFFG Clear Shot powder in my shop. I guess they are about 4-5 years old.

I was thinking of using it in my 32-20 '73 and .45LC SSA for plinking fun. Probably too fine for 45-70 and larger BPCR.

Any thoughts on this powder?

I have a couple of pounds of 2F Clear Shot and have used it in my 71/84 Mauser, Dutch Beaumont and my Gras. I have no complaint with it. It wasn't on the market very long. I wish I knew what the best BP substitute was.

BudRow,
Trying to quantify "best" will sure get alot of responses. I have used American Pioneer, without complaint, in a summer camp introduction type lesson for kids. Burn pounds of the stuff and never had an issue. Having said that, I never use it myself. I prefer Triple Seven in some applications and good old Pyrodex in others. Enjoy your search.

All my BPCR shooting is done with Swiss.. I use Pyrodex RS in my .50 cal ML during deer season. I don't even know why I bought the Clear Shot. Oh well, I'll use it up somehow.

WBH,

Just now read your post.

3F clear shot will work in both 32-20 & 45LC.
In the subs 2F is too course to meter well, 3F meters a lot better.
45LC try 30.5 gr/200 gr RNFP, I don't recall how much for the 32-20, but just load to fill airspace no compression.
