Sure looks like it would be a 45-70.

That's a wrist-breaker to fire, I'd reckon.

Where is the stock?

The barrel stub was from a 45/70 but, the new barrel is a 7X30 Waters...

The customer did not send in a stock with this barrel build....

Nice work! How are you going to change the cartridge ID on the barrel?

Thank you BB.

I milled it off and restamped it....

Did you do a liner or a cut and weld?

I do barrel liners in shotgun barrels for various small low pressure cartridges and everything else is barrel stubbed...

The 7X30 Waters was a barrel stub, where the stub was bored, reamed and threaded. Then the 7mm barrel blank was threaded and chambered, screwed into the stub till it butted up against the breech face. The muzzle brake was also threaded and screwed onto the barrel. There were "3" separate pieces of steel, machined and finished to look like one solid piece of steel or barrel....

This was an extractor model...

Cost depends on several factors -

Barrel blank...

Muzzle brake...

Forend work...

Scope rail / iron sights...

Trigger job...

Etc....
